When Daniel Setúbal fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Covelinhas FC's protests and gave Daniel Setúbal a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Caniceira booed when Covelinhas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Setúbal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rafael Lisboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Maia having to interfere. Caniceira's Rafael Lisboa got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 12th minute, Cristóvão Valente hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th minute António Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Daniel Porto fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caniceira's protests and gave Daniel Porto a yellow card for diving instead. After 18 played minutes Caniceira got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Porto. After a rather tough play, Caniceira's Emanuel Amorim got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 25 minutes into the game, Carlos Branco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Caniceira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Covelinhas FC the free kick. António Pinheiro was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 27th minute. Covelinhas FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Covelinhas FC's David Maia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emílio Sousa in the 30th minute of play. Tiago Setúbal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from António Pinheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. After 36 minutes, António Lima mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caniceira and the Covelinhas FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 36th match minute, Caniceira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by António Lima to maneuver through the defense. Tiago Setúbal made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Sérgio Moutinho sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 44 minutes, Nuno Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Covelinhas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nuno Castro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. David Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emílio Sousa in the 46th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Tiago Setúbal came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by Covelinhas FC's Sérgio Moutinho. But to his dismay, Sérgio Moutinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After a rather tough play, Covelinhas FC's Nuno Castro got a free kick in the 54th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sérgio Moutinho in the 57th minute of play forced Caniceira's goalkeeper Tiago Setúbal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rafael Lisboa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but David Maia made a huge save. Rafael Lisboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Maia having to interfere. After 71 played minutes Covelinhas FC got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Castro. Sérgio Moutinho scored 2-0 in the 82nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tiago Setúbal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Sérgio Moutinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiago Setúbal having to interfere. Rafael Lisboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. David Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rafael Lisboa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but David Maia made a huge save.
