With splendid footwork Cândido Paiva arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-0 by the left pole in the game's 9th minute. After a defensive mix-up in SC Carregueiro's zone, Gil Mota stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Oliveira came out of the goal and Gil Mota tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. António Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cândido Paiva in the 22nd minute of play. 23 minutes into the game, Cândido Paiva recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of António Monteiro. Cândido Paiva showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. David Oliveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gil Mota in the 28th minute of the match. Cândido Paiva received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. António Monteiro came out and tried to block the shot, but Cândido Paiva slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 30th minute. Oliveira Ribeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oliveira Ribeiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but António Monteiro made a huge save. António Monteiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Gonçalo Assis was shown his second yellow card after 96 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Cândido Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
