The supporters of Tornol FC booed when Talaide was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tornol FC's David Moura played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Silva in the 15th minute of play. Manuel Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Joaquim Morais had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eusébio Ramos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If David Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eusébio Ramos to make the kick off. Humberto Leiria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eusébio Ramos in the 52nd minute of the match. After having played for 53 minutes, Eusébio Ramos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tornol FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eusébio Ramos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Manuel Silva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. David Moura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 68 minutes, Emílio Resende mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tornol FC and the Talaide players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 68th match minute, Tornol FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emílio Resende to maneuver through the defense. Manuel Delgado was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 69th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. If David Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. David Queirós recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joaquim Morais's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Humberto Leiria read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. In the 79th minute, Marco Rodrigues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Basílio Simões didn't quite understand what happened when in the 81 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Humberto Leiria made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joaquim Morais in the 87th minute. The audience was convinced that Eusébio Ramos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Humberto Leiria was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Silva in the 90th minute of play forced Tornol FC's goalkeeper David Moura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
