The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tomás Amaral's late challenge caught a SC Vidigal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomás Amaral helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Vidigal booed when Varsea FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomás Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. 5 minutes into the match, Varsea FC's goal looked a bit too open when Armando Mota came free, but Adelino Nunes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jaime Oliveira hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Albertino Assis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Adelino Nunes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. SC Vidigal's Afonso Carneiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Magalhães in the 17th minute of play. Varsea FC's Adelino Nunes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Varsea FC from getting a goal against them. Basílio Figueiredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Afonso Carneiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rui Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
