The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Sanguinhal's Carlos Nogueira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Basílio Brás narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emílio Azevedo in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Augusto Santarém saved Sanguinhal from getting behind. Sanguinhal's Joaquim Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 11 minutes into the match, Varejota FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Nogueira came free, but Basílio Brás reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raul Castro in the 13th minute of play forced Sanguinhal's goalkeeper Augusto Santarém to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlos Leão hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 17th minute Raul Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Augusto Santarém saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Raul Castro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Augusto Santarém was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. When Emílio Azevedo came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Varejota FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emílio Azevedo couldn't finish the play. 37 minutes into the game, Varejota FC's Emílio Azevedo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Augusto Santarém made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Sanguinhal's Augusto Santarém played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emílio Azevedo in the 43rd minute of play. Joaquim Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basílio Brás having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emílio Azevedo was the one to do the kick off. After 54 played minutes Varejota FC got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo Simões. If Carlos Nogueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sanguinhal's Augusto Santarém proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Sanguinhal from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Varejota FC's zone, Carlos Leão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basílio Brás came out of the goal and Carlos Leão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 74th match minute, Sanguinhal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Nogueira to maneuver through the defense. Emílio Azevedo had several of the Sanguinhal's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 76 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-2 score and a disappointed Augusto Santarém as he didn't even see the shot coming. Basílio Brás took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Nogueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquim Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basílio Brás having to interfere. 86 minutes into the match, Varejota FC's goal looked a bit too open when Joaquim Azevedo came free, but Basílio Brás reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th minute Joaquim Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basílio Brás saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90th minute, one of Varejota FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Varejota FC. In the 97th match minute, Varejota FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandro Lima to maneuver through the defense. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Varejota FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
