A collision led to Juremelo getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Miguel Bessa hit a great ball. Sérgio Paredes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Bernardo Freitas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Juremelo's Bernardo Freitas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Juremelo from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Xavier Almeida managed to get in a good position for a shot. Juremelo's supporters rose to their feet, but Xavier Almeida was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. António Leal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luís Lopes's late challenge caught a Juremelo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luís Lopes helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Alvarenga's Luís Lopes got a free kick in the 25th minute. After 28 played minutes Alvarenga got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Nascimento. Xavier Almeida might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over António Leal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Xavier Almeida ran back to his position shaking his head. António Leal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Xavier Almeida went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. António Leal came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Juremelo's Américo Fonseca. But to his dismay, Américo Fonseca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Américo Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Leal having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cristiano Moniz was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Américo Fonseca in the 51st minute of play forced Alvarenga's goalkeeper António Leal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Alvarenga's António Leal got control of the ball when Xavier Almeida tried to sneak it across the goal line. Manuel Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Alvarenga's goal looked a bit too open when Américo Fonseca came free, but António Leal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
