In the 8th play minute Carlos Correia came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Mariano Alves. 1-0. Eusébio Leite might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mariano Alves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eusébio Leite ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Gil Leite managed to get in a good position for a shot. Amarante FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gil Leite was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vicente Mendes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 20 minutes, Gil Valente mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Cuxerre and the Amarante FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Gil Valente hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Sebastião Simões hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. After 23 played minutes, Amarante FC's Humberto Paiva shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vicente Mendes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Amarante FC reached it. A hard shot 24 in the game by Carlos Correia from a close distance when the talented Mariano Alves managed to make a qualified save. Amarante FC's players were relieved. Miguel Reis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vicente Mendes having to interfere. After 35 played minutes Amarante FC got a freekick which was hit by Diogo Silva. When SC Cuxerre's Eusébio Leite in 40 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Mariano Alves guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Gil Leite received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Vicente Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gil Leite to strike the kick off in the second half. Mariano Alves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Correia in the 52nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Miguel Reis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Amarante FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Miguel Reis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vicente Mendes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Carlos Correia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th match minute, Amarante FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Paiva to maneuver through the defense. Miguel Reis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vicente Mendes having to make a save. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Cuxerre's goalkeeper Vicente Mendes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. SC Cuxerre's Vicente Mendes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save SC Cuxerre from getting a goal against them. Eusébio Leite recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Amarante FC's Mariano Alves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eusébio Leite in the 94th minute of play. If Eusébio Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Amarante FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for SC Cuxerre.
