The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Moninho FC's Alberto Jesus sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that António Carvalho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 8 minutes into the match, Benafim's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Jesus came free, but António Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. João Guarda was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 29th minute. Benafim's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 31st match minute, Benafim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Guarda to maneuver through the defense. António Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Jesus in the 35th minute of the match. Alberto Jesus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Moninho FC's Adelino Coelho got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rui Ramos couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alberto Jesus to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Moninho FC got a freekick which was hit by André Pinto. In the 54th minute, João Guarda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
