Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. David Castro started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in SC Vinhas's zone, David Castro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jaime Soares came out of the goal and David Castro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jaime Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Castro in the 7th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in SC Vinhas's zone, Basílio Cardoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jaime Soares came out of the goal and Basílio Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Fernando Setúbal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of SC Vinhas booed when SC Piais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basílio Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Castro in the 17th minute of play forced SC Vinhas's goalkeeper Jaime Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Basílio Cardoso's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 19thth minute, Jaime Soares skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 20th minute David Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot 22 in the game by Basílio Cardoso from a close distance when the talented Jaime Soares managed to make a qualified save. SC Vinhas's players were relieved. Basílio Cardoso who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Jaime Soares when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 25 minutes of play, SC Vinhas's Fernando Setúbal made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Albertino Simões was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 29th minute of the match Sérgio Correia sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jaime Soares skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of SC Piais booed when SC Vinhas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Gueifão didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute Emanuel Alves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albertino Simões saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SC Piais's Albertino Simões played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Setúbal in the 43rd minute of play. Basílio Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The SC Piais players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SC Vinhas were winning 0-1.

When Filipe Pereira fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Vinhas's protests and gave Filipe Pereira a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SC Piais booed when SC Vinhas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filipe Pereira didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was beautiful to see SC Piais's Raul Macedo in action when he in the 54th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! SC Vinhas's Jaime Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basílio Cardoso in the 60th minute of play. Basílio Cardoso charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Basílio Cardoso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of SC Vinhas booed when SC Piais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basílio Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute, SC Vinhas's Emanuel Alves dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Paulo Ferro's late challenge caught a SC Vinhas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paulo Ferro helped the player get up and apologised. Emanuel Alves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With his leg Albertino Simões managed to avoid a goal in the 74thth minute, when SC Vinhas's Emanuel Alves fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Basílio Cardoso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jaime Soares having to make a save. In the 79th minute Basílio Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. David Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 84 minutes, David Castro made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. SC Vinhas's Jaime Soares tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 89 minutes, Fernando Setúbal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Vinhas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernando Setúbal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The SC Vinhas supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SC Vinhas would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
