With an all-out effort, Assanhas's Eusébio Carneiro threw himself towards the right post 22 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Emílio Gaspar, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Santos in the 24th minute of play forced Assanhas's goalkeeper José Teixeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Teixeira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lucas Santos went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernardo Ribeiro in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Teixeira saved Assanhas from getting behind. In the 52nd minute Nuno Lopes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eusébio Carneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
