The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xavier Sá during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Lajes booed when Poeira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xavier Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers David Miranda in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Amorim saved Poeira from getting behind. 9 minutes into the game, Armindo Nascimento cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Daniel Abreu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Carlos Reis's late challenge caught a Lajes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Reis helped the player get up and apologised. Gonçalo Cabral kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. When Carlos Reis came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Poeira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Reis couldn't finish the play. Lajes's Gonçalo Cabral got his second yellow card of the match in the 17th minute. The referee ordered Gonçalo Cabral off the ground. Gonçalo Cabral kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Daniel Abreu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Reis's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. When David Miranda fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lajes's protests and gave David Miranda a yellow card for diving instead. David Miranda kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. 42 minutes into the match, Lajes's goalkeeper Daniel Abreu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Armindo Nascimento. In the 48th minute David Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos Reis to strike the kick off in the second half. Paulo Ferreira struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Pedro Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lajes. Daniel Abreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Reis, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Poeira were furious when Rui Moreira was red carded, 56 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 56th minute, one of Poeira:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Poeira. Poeira's Pedro Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Poeira from getting a goal against them. Luís Lisboa charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Lisboa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 70th minute Armindo Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Abreu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 80 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Poeira! António Lisboa walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Pedro Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulo Ferreira in the 83rd minute. When Paulo Ferreira came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Lajes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Ferreira couldn't finish the play. David Dantas's late challenge caught a Poeira's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. David Dantas helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Lajes's David Dantas got a free kick in the 95th minute. It was beautiful to see Poeira's João Moniz in action when he in the 97th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The Poeira supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Lajes's performance. The match ended with a win for Lajes.
