If Tiago Brás had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Tamengos's Mário Sá got control of the ball when Afonso Sá tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 13 minutes, Fernando Domingues mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Curveira and the Tamengos players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fernando Domingues kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Jorge Assis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Júlio Ferro went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After having played for 21 minutes, Júlio Ferro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tamengos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Júlio Ferro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the match, João Valente had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mário Sá. Tamengos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that João Valente was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. When Manuel Bessa fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Curveira's protests and gave Manuel Bessa a yellow card for diving instead. João Valente fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mário Sá having to interfere. The SC Curveira players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Tamengos were winning 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Júlio Ferro to make the kick off. After 53 played minutes Tamengos got a freekick which was hit by Lúcio Pereira. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Carlos Cruz managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Curveira's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Cruz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mário Sá breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If João Valente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Humberto Viegas during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 63 minutes into the game, one of Tamengos:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Mário Sá had in the 65thth minute some difficulties stopping Carlos Cruz's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. João Valente sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tiago Brás received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Jorge Assis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Tamengos's Júlio Ferro got a free kick in the 84th minute. After 89 played minutes SC Curveira got a freekick which was hit by Eusébio Barbosa. When Afonso Sá came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the SC Curveira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Afonso Sá couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see SC Curveira lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
