The referee ignored Ariero's protests and gave Emílio Machado a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd minute, Emílio Machado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Ariero's Fábio Fonseca got control of the ball when André Moura tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ricardo Moura in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fábio Fonseca saved Ariero from getting behind. 8 minutes into the game, Ricardo Moura recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fábio Fonseca. Ricardo Moura showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Fábio Fonseca had great luck who in the 12thth minute grab hold of the ball when Ricardo Moura from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. André Moura struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Fábio Fonseca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Machio. André Moura in the 25thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Fábio Fonseca, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Machio's Sebastião Sá played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Pinheiro in the 28th minute of play. Fábio Fonseca made an important save on a dangerous shot by André Moura in the 30th minute. If André Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 40 minutes into the match, Ariero's André Leite sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sebastião Sá narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers André Leite in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sebastião Sá saved Machio from getting behind.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for André Leite to strike the kick off in the second half. Ariero's Fábio Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardo Moura in the 55th minute of play. Ricardo Moura blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fábio Fonseca having to make a save. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 91 minutes into the match, Machio's goal looked a bit too open when André Leite came free, but Sebastião Sá reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Machio fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ariero had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
