Jaime Pinho was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Manuel Matias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Catarino Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute Bento Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Catarino Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 28 minutes, Abel Costa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Souzel FC and the SC Abitureiras players grew even worse after the yellow card. Abel Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Catarino Carvalho stood somewhat misplaced when Manuel Matias came free in front of goal and shot 2-1 to the left of him in the 30 minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Moniz in the 40th minute of play forced SC Abitureiras's goalkeeper Jaime Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jorge Moniz was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in SC Abitureiras's zone, António Maia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jaime Pinho came out of the goal and António Maia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. António Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jaime Pinho having to interfere. If António Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bento Carvalho in the 60th minute of play forced Souzel FC's goalkeeper Catarino Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 63 minutes, Jorge Moniz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Souzel FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorge Moniz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bento Carvalho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Catarino Carvalho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Bento Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Catarino Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Souzel FC's Catarino Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Matias in the 87th minute of play. After having played for 88 minutes, Bento Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Abitureiras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bento Carvalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bento Carvalho struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Catarino Carvalho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Abitureiras. In the 92nd minute Manuel Matias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Catarino Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 92 minutes of play, SC Abitureiras's Manuel Matias made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Catarino Carvalho was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 96 played minutes SC Abitureiras got a freekick which was hit by Rui Ribeiro. In the 98th minute Jorge Moniz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
