After 23 minutes, Bruno Nascimento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Catrivana FC and the Chorense FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 23 played minutes Catrivana FC got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Nascimento. Catrivana FC's Sandro Magalhães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Coimbra in the 24th minute of play. Adolfo Pinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandro Magalhães having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Catrivana FC's goalkeeper Sandro Magalhães had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adolfo Pinho. Rui Coimbra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandro Magalhães having to interfere. Gonçalo Ferreira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Rui Coimbra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th minute, Adolfo Pinho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sandro Magalhães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Coimbra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 53 played minutes Chorense FC got a freekick which was hit by Eusébio Amaro. Xavier Andrade, 54 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Gonçalo Ferreira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Manuel Lisboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. António Sá could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Manuel Lisboa made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Adolfo Pinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chorense FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Adolfo Pinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sandro Magalhães breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Gonçalo Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. In the 81st minute of the match José Vaz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Manuel Lisboa skillfully saved the ball. After 84 played minutes, Chorense FC's Rodrigo Pedroso shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sandro Magalhães came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chorense FC reached it. The supporters of Catrivana FC booed when Chorense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusébio Leão didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Adolfo Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sandro Magalhães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Coimbra, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The Catrivana FC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Chorense FC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
