Ricardo Domingues recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jacinto Silva's late challenge caught a SC Catassol's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jacinto Silva helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to SC Gomide getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Eusébio Leiria hit a great ball. Viriato Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Gomide's Tomás Lopes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save SC Gomide from getting a goal against them. In the 21st minute, Viriato Cruz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Gomide fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ricardo Domingues who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 24thth minute tested the skills of Tomás Lopes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Francisco Figueiredo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eusébio Leiria in the 27th minute of the match. In the 30th minute, Eusébio Leiria ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Francisco Figueiredo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. When Eusébio Leiria came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the SC Gomide fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eusébio Leiria couldn't finish the play. If Ricardo Domingues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, SC Gomide's Eusébio Leiria sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Francisco Figueiredo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The SC Catassol players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SC Gomide were winning 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ricardo Domingues was the one to do the kick off. When Viriato Fernandes fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Catassol's protests and gave Viriato Fernandes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 51st minute, Viriato Fernandes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Francisco Figueiredo had great luck who in the 52ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Eusébio Leiria from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. In the 53rd minute of the match SC Gomide got a corner. SC Catassol's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomás Ferreira ran over to the corner to take the kick. 56 minutes into the match, SC Catassol's goal looked a bit too open when Eusébio Leiria came free, but Francisco Figueiredo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eusébio Leiria might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Francisco Figueiredo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eusébio Leiria ran back to his position shaking his head. SC Catassol's Ricardo Domingues got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of SC Catassol booed when SC Gomide was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacinto Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Maia struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Francisco Figueiredo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Gomide. If Carlos Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Francisco Figueiredo came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Gomide's Viriato Cruz. But to his dismay, Viriato Cruz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. SC Catassol's Viriato Fernandes got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to SC Gomide getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Eusébio Leiria hit a great ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. SC Gomide had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
