Luís Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Leão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rogério Macedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 7 minutes into the match, Penina's goal looked a bit too open when Rogério Macedo came free, but Luís Leão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alberto Machado's late challenge caught a Meda FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alberto Machado helped the player get up and apologised. In the 8th match minute, Penina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Machado to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Penina defense, Eusébio Henriques kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luís Leão. The Penina fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luís Leão should have stopped the shot. Eusébio Henriques's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Leão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Abel Coelho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Raul Soares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Oliveira Valente tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rogério Macedo in the 27th minute of play. After 29 played minutes Meda FC got a freekick which was hit by David Coimbra. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, António Martins took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Oliveira Valente to make any attempt to save it. If Rogério Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eusébio Henriques in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luís Leão prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Raul Soares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Diamantino Pires fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Penina's protests and gave Diamantino Pires a yellow card for diving instead. After 48 played minutes Penina got a freekick which was hit by Diamantino Pires. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Heitor Leite was the one to do the kick off. Rogério Macedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Heitor Leite in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Oliveira Valente saved Meda FC from getting behind. Heitor Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oliveira Valente showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heitor Leite, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Filipe Cabral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Luís Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Filipe Cabral hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. When Penina's Heitor Leite in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Meda FC's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rogério Macedo got free with Luís Leão in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Paulo Faro struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Luís Leão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Meda FC. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Raul Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Penina's supporters rose to their feet, but Raul Soares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oliveira Valente breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. David Coimbra hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 88th minute of the match Vicente Cabral sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Oliveira Valente skillfully saved the ball. With a little luck, Penina's Luís Leão got control of the ball when Rogério Macedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rogério Macedo succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 96th playminute. The Meda FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
