Xavier Baptista took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 4th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Hélder Faro. Aroeira FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Armando Machado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Cândido Moutinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Afonso Moura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Hélder Faro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Afonso Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. Hélder Faro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vítor Leite in the 14th minute of play. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gafanhao's goalkeeper Cândido Moutinho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cândido Moutinho made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Armindo Moutinho sent off a good shot on target. 24 minutes into the game, Armindo Moutinho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Aroeira FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gafanhao the free kick. In the 24th minute, Armindo Moutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 26 minutes into the game, Gafanhao's Vítor Leite nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hélder Faro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. If Armindo Moutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vítor Leite stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vítor Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hélder Faro having to interfere. In the 57th play minute Afonso Moura came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Hélder Faro. 1-2. Américo Santos's late challenge caught a Aroeira FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Américo Santos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 62nd match minute, Gafanhao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Américo Santos to maneuver through the defense. The Aroeira FC fans' excitement grew in the 63rd match minute when Aroeira FC's Armando Machado looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Hélder Faro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vítor Leite, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Hélder Faro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vítor Leite's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Armando Machado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Armindo Moutinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cândido Moutinho having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Gafanhao's Américo Santos got a free kick in the 75th minute. Cândido Moutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armando Machado in the 78th minute of the match. Afonso Mouras short, quick shot in the 86thth minute got Hélder Faro to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
