But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adelino Assunção couldn't finish the play. In the 10th minute, Sérgio Viegas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 11th minute, Américo Luz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Balocas FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Amarantinho FC's Duarte Freitas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adelino Assunção in the 14th minute of play. Amarantinho FC's Jaime Lisboa got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When José Figueiredo fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Balocas FC's protests and gave José Figueiredo a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Balocas FC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. José Figueiredo hit a great ball. João Cruz's late challenge caught a Amarantinho FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. João Cruz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Amarantinho FC booed when Balocas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jaime Lisboa struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Marco Ferreira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Amarantinho FC. When Sérgio Viegas fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Amarantinho FC's protests and gave Sérgio Viegas a yellow card for diving instead. In the 26th match minute, Balocas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Borges to maneuver through the defense. 27 minutes into the match, Amarantinho FC's Bruno Teixeira broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 29 played minutes Balocas FC got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Borges. Marco Ferreira came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Amarantinho FC's Jaime Lisboa. But to his dismay, Jaime Lisboa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Marco Ferreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Lisboa in the 34th minute of the match. Adelino Assunção received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Duarte Freitas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Balocas FC booed when Amarantinho FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Antunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 45 minutes, Américo Luz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balocas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Américo Luz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime Lisboa was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Balocas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Lisboa came free, but Marco Ferreira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 53 minutes, Alberto Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balocas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Borges was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Jaime Lisboa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Amarantinho FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jaime Lisboa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marco Ferreira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Joel Carneiro hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. In the 67th minute of the match Alexandre Ribeiro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Duarte Freitas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 70 minutes of play Amarantinho FC's Sérgio Viegas was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Alexandre Brás fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Ferreira having to interfere. Adelino Assunção sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Amarantinho FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
