The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nuno Dias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricardo Barbosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. Marco Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Barbosa having to interfere. If David Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Coucao FC getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. José Lima hit a great ball. Palheirao FC's Ricardo Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco Rocha in the 16th minute of play. In the 17th minute, Nuno Dias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Rocha in the 26th minute of play forced Palheirao FC's goalkeeper Ricardo Barbosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nuno Dias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Ricardo Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gonçalo Torres got free with Paulo Nunes in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 40th minute, Marco Rocha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Coucao FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nuno Dias stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Amadeu Coimbra during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 60th minute, David Gomes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paulo Nunes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Américo Pedroso in the 68th minute of the match. Gil Guerreiro hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. If David Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. David Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Américo Pedroso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Coucao FC getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Rui Borba hit a great ball. Paulo Nunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Américo Pedroso in the 96th minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Coucao FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
