The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jacinto Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduardo Ferro, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. The supporters of Covelos FC booed when Machada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filipe Faro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jacinto Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduardo Ferro in the 46th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lúcio Luz made a kick off. Jacinto Cunha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joaquim Santos in the 53rd minute of the match. When Lúcio Luz came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Covelos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lúcio Luz couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lúcio Luz in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alexandre Sá prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Covelos FC's Jacinto Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Ferro in the 70th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Eduardo Ferro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacinto Cunha was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Joaquim Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 82 minutes into the match, Machada's goal looked a bit too open when Lúcio Luz came free, but Alexandre Sá reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nuno Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexandre Sá having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Machada fans cheered their team off the field, for while Covelos FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
