With a little luck, Morrilhoes's Carlos Lopes got control of the ball when Henrique Paredes tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 13 minutes, Vasco Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Morrilhoes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vasco Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 18 minutes had been played when some careless play by Morrilhoes's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hugo Soares was slow to take the kick. During this time Mar's players had a chance to rest. Hugo Soares made a great header on Mar's corner, it was just that Morrilhoes's Carlos Lopes managed to reach the ball for a save. After a defensive mix-up in Morrilhoes's zone, Marco Pereira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Lopes came out of the goal and Marco Pereira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mar's António Martins got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Mariano Lopes fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Morrilhoes's protests and gave Mariano Lopes a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Mar booed when Morrilhoes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mariano Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Henrique Paredes struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Carlos Lopes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Henrique Paredes got free with Carlos Lopes in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. António Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Lopes having to interfere. In the 42nd of the match, António Martins tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Carlos Lopes got in the way and made a wonderful save. In the 43rd minute of the match, Henrique Paredes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Carlos Lopes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When Alexandre Neves came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Morrilhoes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Neves couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Alexandre Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Morrilhoes's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexandre Neves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rafael Amaro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Morrilhoes getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Nuno Santarém hit a great ball. After having played for 77 minutes, Alexandre Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Morrilhoes's Carlos Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by António Martins in the 80th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Neves in the 84th minute of play forced Mar's goalkeeper Rafael Amaro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The goalkeeper, Rafael Amaro, was totally fooled by Morrilhoes's Oliveira Delgado, who 93 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Morrilhoes had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
