After 23 minutes, Xavier Gueifão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carotes and the Carquere players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 24 played minutes Carotes got a freekick which was hit by Xavier Gueifão. The supporters of Carquere booed when Carotes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carotes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Matos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Carquere's Humberto Borba got a free kick in the 85th minute. Tiago Cruz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Matos's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. If Manuel Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
