An unexpected shot in the 18th minute by Bruno Moniz got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Almada's Alexandre Fontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cláudio Santos in the 22nd minute of play. The nice shot from Bruno Moniz in the 31stth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Alexandre Fontes had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Francisco Borges struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Afonso Mota didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Almada. Ricardo Amorim kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Francisco Borges might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Afonso Mota. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bruno Moniz got free with Alexandre Fontes in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match clock showed 69 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Francisco Borges sped through Monsaraz FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Afonso Mota. Alexandre Fontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cláudio Santos in the 72nd minute of play. After 73 played minutes Monsaraz FC got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Moniz. After some careless play in the Almada defense, Cláudio Santos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alexandre Fontes. The Almada fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alexandre Fontes should have stopped the shot. When Monsaraz FC's Cláudio Santos in the 84th minute got a chance for a shot 84th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
