Lazaro FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tiago Assunção was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afonso Vieira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Alberto Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alberto Araújo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonso Vieira, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Amílcar Marques kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mário Sousa. That made the score 1-0 in the 17 minute of play. Lazaro FC's Tiago Assunção got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 22nd match minute, Fontinha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xavier Aguiar to maneuver through the defense. Alberto Araújo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiago Assunção, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lazaro FC's goalkeeper Mário Sousa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 30 minutes, Álvaro Cabral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A collision led to Lazaro FC getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Delfim Melo hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Álvaro Cabral to strike the kick off in the second half. Delfim Melo's late challenge caught a Fontinha's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Delfim Melo helped the player get up and apologised. After recieving a nice pass, Fontinha's Alberto Esteves tried to score from far away in the 59th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. A collision led to Fontinha getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Xavier Aguiar hit a great ball. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Fontinha's goalkeeper Alberto Araújo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Lazaro FC booed when Fontinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. António Aguiar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lazaro FC's Tiago Assunção got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 75th minute, Hugo Cardoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Afonso Vieira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Alberto Araújo made a huge save. With a little luck, Fontinha's Alberto Araújo got control of the ball when Afonso Vieira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Álvaro Cabral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mário Sousa having to interfere. When Álvaro Cabral came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Fontinha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Álvaro Cabral couldn't finish the play. After having played for 88 minutes, Tiago Assunção managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lazaro FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tiago Assunção was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96th minute, Fontinha's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Afonso Vieira fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
