The audience thought a goal was coming when Rui Ferro got free with Heitor Melo in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sebastião Henriques's late challenge caught a Varatojo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sebastião Henriques helped the player get up and apologised. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Raul Moreira during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of SC Cintrao booed when Varatojo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raul Moreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sandro Gomes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fábio Faro's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. 10 minutes into the match, Varatojo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Vasco Tavares came free, but Sandro Gomes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ricardo Leão charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ricardo Leão the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ricardo Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, SC Cintrao's Cristóvão Mota tried to score from far away in the 12th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 14 minutes into the match, SC Cintrao's Vasco Tavares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sandro Gomes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Vasco Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Abel Viegas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Varatojo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Abel Viegas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Heitor Melo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 22 minutes into the match, SC Cintrao's goalkeeper Heitor Melo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rui Ferro. When Fábio Faro came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the SC Cintrao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fábio Faro couldn't finish the play. After 26 played minutes Varatojo FC got a freekick which was hit by Cláudio Borges. If Fábio Faro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rui Ferro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Heitor Melo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes in the game, Abel Viegas fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Heitor Melo having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Vasco Tavares left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Cintrao fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After having played for 40 minutes, Vasco Tavares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Cintrao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vasco Tavares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fábio Faro scored 0-2 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sandro Gomes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fábio Faro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rui Ferro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heitor Melo having to interfere. Abel Viegas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Abel Viegas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in SC Cintrao's zone, Rui Ferro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Heitor Melo came out of the goal and Rui Ferro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 58th minute, Sebastião Henriques hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rui Ferro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Heitor Melo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Ferro in the 64th minute of the match. If Vasco Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vasco Tavares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 93rd minute Rui Ferro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heitor Melo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 100th minute, Abel Viegas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Varatojo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Abel Viegas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Heitor Melo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
