In the 14th match minute, Retorta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Coimbra to maneuver through the defense. Viriato Moreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernando Borba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Retorta getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Domingos Cardoso hit a great ball. Albertino Silva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bento Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Borges, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. 47 minutes into the game, Ricardo Azevedo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Viriato Moreira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernando Borba was the one to do the kick off. Joaquim Borges's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bento Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. Ricardo Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 85 played minutes Retorta got a freekick which was hit by Basílio Amorim. 88 minutes into the game, Fernando Borba recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Viriato Moreira. Fernando Borba showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. In the 91st minute, Alberto Faria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 94 minutes, Ricardo Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Safira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ricardo Azevedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. SC Safira's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
