If João Pinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Varatojo FC booed when Fermil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiago Teixeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 8th minute, João Pinto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. João Pinto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but António Costa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Henrique Macedo's late challenge caught a Varatojo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Henrique Macedo helped the player get up and apologised. After 14 played minutes Fermil got a freekick which was hit by Henrique Macedo. Ricardo Pacheco kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. António Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Pinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tiago Teixeira kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Cândido Gomes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but António Costa made a huge save. When Henrique Macedo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 25 minutes had been played. After 25 played minutes Fermil got a freekick which was hit by Henrique Macedo. 27 minutes into the game, Varatojo FC's Cândido Gomes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. António Costa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The supporters of Varatojo FC booed when Fermil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardo Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cândido Gomes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 32ndth minute tested the skills of António Costa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 34th minute, João Pinto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. António Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Pinto, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eusébio Cardoso made a kick off. António Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cândido Gomes in the 53rd minute of play. 54 minutes into the game, Bernardo Silva was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fermil's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Varatojo FC the free kick. After 54 played minutes Fermil got a freekick which was hit by Bernardo Silva. João Pinto charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed João Pinto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. João Pinto hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. António Costa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Pinto in the 60th minute of the match. Cândido Gomes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Fermil's Bernardo Silva got a free kick in the 66th minute. Cândido Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. António Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Pinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eusébio Cardoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Barros having to interfere. Cândido Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cândido Gomes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
