The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alfredo Lopes had several of the Roca's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 9 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Joel Resende as he didn't even see the shot coming. 1-1 became the score in the 12th minute when Inácio Azevedo elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Joel Resende made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Lopes in the 16th minute of play. In the 21st minute, Roca's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Sérgio Santarém fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Roca's zone, Alfredo Lopes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joel Resende came out of the goal and Alfredo Lopes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 25 minutes into the match, Roca's goalkeeper Joel Resende had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sérgio Santarém. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Lopes in the 27th minute of play forced Roca's goalkeeper Joel Resende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Rocha hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute, Nuno Borges got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Roca's zone, Sérgio Santarém stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joel Resende came out of the goal and Sérgio Santarém tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Alverca FC booed when Roca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Roca's goalkeeper Joel Resende had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sérgio Santarém. After 39 minutes, Rui Abreu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alverca FC and the Roca players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nuno Anjos didn't get a good kick on the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfredo Lopes made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Daniel Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 56 minutes into the game, Inácio Azevedo lined in a short shot 1-2 behind a frustrated Jorge Assis. After a defensive mix-up in Alverca FC's zone, Nuno Borges stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Assis came out of the goal and Nuno Borges tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Roca booed when Alverca FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diamantino Domingues didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Inácio Azevedo came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Roca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Inácio Azevedo couldn't finish the play. If Nuno Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Inácio Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Assis having to interfere. Nuno Borges could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Jorge Assis made a huge save. Jorge Assis was a little too slow when Nuno Borges got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 1-3. Nuno Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Assis having to interfere. When Sérgio Santarém fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alverca FC's protests and gave Sérgio Santarém a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Alverca FC's Sérgio Santarém got a free kick in the 87th minute. In the 89th minute Inácio Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Assis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roca's Adolfo Martins couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 96th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Alverca FC. Alverca FC's Sérgio Santarém got a good chance for a goal in the 99th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Roca's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
