Rio's André Borba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Soares in the 3rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mário Pereira got free with Gabriel Gonçalves in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gabriel Gonçalves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mário Pereira in the 8th minute. Gabriel Gonçalves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. António Brito scored 0-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of André Borba, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Delfim Setúbal took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised André Borba. Mário Pereira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Gabriel Gonçalves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Ifanes's goalkeeper Gabriel Gonçalves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Gil Guerreiro fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Ifanes's protests and gave Gil Guerreiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 39th minute, Alexandre Tavares reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gabriel Gonçalves. The goal made the score 1-2. The supporters of Rio booed when SC Ifanes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Guerreiro didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alexandre Tavares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. André Borba was out of position in the 52 minute of play, and Carlos Soares capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Carlos Soares really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. In the 55th minute, Alexandre Tavares made a precise shot to the right of Gabriel Gonçalves. SC Ifanes's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3.
