Avide's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rui Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 16 minutes into the match, SC Mangues's goal looked a bit too open when Rui Vale came free, but Vítor Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 20 minutes into the game, Rui Vale recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Vítor Correia. Rui Vale showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Vicente Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emílio Gueifão in the 24th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emílio Gueifão in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vicente Vale prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Vítor Correia was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Afonso Dias showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 41 minute of play. Nuno Valente sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rui Vale to strike the kick off in the second half. Nuno Valentes short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Vicente Vale to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Vicente Vale didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emílio Gueifão went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. 59 minutes into the match, Avide's goalkeeper Vicente Vale had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nuno Valente. Jaime Vaz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Vítor Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Jaime Vaz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Avide's supporters rose to their feet, but Jaime Vaz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vítor Correia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Afonso Dias during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of SC Mangues booed when Avide was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Dias didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 91st minute Emílio Gueifão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. During the 95th minute of the match Afonso Dias completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Afonso Dias a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Avide fans cheered their team off the field, for while SC Mangues had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
