Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mário Campos, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of Benagil booed when Gional FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albertino Pinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benagil's Mário Campos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Benagil from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Gional FC's zone, Vicente Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emílio Dias came out of the goal and Vicente Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 16th minute, Gonçalo Gueifão ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mário Campos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Mário Campos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gonçalo Gueifão in the 19th minute. Nuno Pinto's late challenge caught a Gional FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nuno Pinto helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Benagil getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Nuno Pinto hit a great ball. Emílio Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Cardoso in the 23rd minute of play. Emílio Dias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vicente Neves in the 26th minute of the match. When Inácio Cardoso fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gional FC's protests and gave Inácio Cardoso a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th minute, Inácio Cardoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 29 minutes into the match, Benagil's Alberto Reis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emílio Dias narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mário Campos made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Gonçalo Gueifão sent off a good shot on target. Emílio Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vicente Neves in the 37th minute of play. Alberto Reis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40thth minute of the game Vicente Neves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gional FC's Emílio Dias was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Vicente Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Emílio Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th minute, Alberto Reis made a precise shot to the right of Emílio Dias. Gional FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rafael Faria made a kick off. In the 51st minute Rafael Faria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mário Campos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 59 played minutes Gional FC got a freekick which was hit by Gil Pires. Fernando Marques thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Emílio Dias, a very annoying self made goal in the 60th minute which led to 1-2. Gonçalo Gueifão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mário Campos having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonçalo Gueifão in the 67th minute of play forced Benagil's goalkeeper Mário Campos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 68th minute Alberto Reis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emílio Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Gional FC defense, Vicente Neves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emílio Dias. The Gional FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emílio Dias should have stopped the shot. Gional FC's Emílio Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Reis in the 84th minute of play. After having played for 87 minutes, Alberto Reis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Benagil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Reis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Albertino Pinto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gonçalo Gueifão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 95 minutes into the match, Gonçalo Gueifão had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mário Campos. Benagil's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gonçalo Gueifão was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Benagil eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
