Afonso Azevedo charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Afonso Azevedo hit a great ball. When Joaquim Barbosa came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Chamico FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquim Barbosa couldn't finish the play. Chamico FC's Bento Cardoso got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Joaquim Aguiar fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Falachos's protests and gave Joaquim Aguiar a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd minute, Joaquim Aguiar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Falachos's Pedro Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bento Cardoso in the 24th minute of play. After having played for 44 minutes, Joaquim Barbosa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chamico FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joaquim Barbosa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Chamico FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bento Cardoso to make the kick off. Armando Neves's late challenge caught a Chamico FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. If Carlos Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd minute, Alfredo Fontes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Joaquim Barbosa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Pedro Brito made a huge save. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 91st minute of the game. One of Chamico FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Falachos:s goal. After 95 played minutes Falachos got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Aguiar. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
