The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Avelar's Raul Resende managed to work through Sobredo FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Raul Resende dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 4 minutes into the game, one of Avelar:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Sobredo FC a penalty, 6 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by António Porto, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Avelar's Fábio Campos. 1-0. Amadeu Lisboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Dias in the 8th minute of the match. Jorge Pacheco charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorge Pacheco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jorge Pacheco kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Vasco Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot. Avelar's supporters rose to their feet, but Vasco Andrade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Amadeu Lisboa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 13 minutes into the game, one of Sobredo FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 15th minute there was a penalty for Avelar. Hugo Marques stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Amadeu Lisboa. 1-1. Vasco Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Vasco Andrade came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Avelar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vasco Andrade couldn't finish the play. In the 29th match minute, Sobredo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge Pacheco to maneuver through the defense. Vasco Andrade struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristóvão Sá in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fábio Campos saved Avelar from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vasco Andrade got free with Amadeu Lisboa in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sobredo FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 82nd minute. Penalty! When the match was over Avelar could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sobredo FC throughout the match.
