In the 26th minute Lúcio Leite shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cândido Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to SC Molares getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Eduardo Marques hit a great ball. 32 minutes in the game, Lúcio Leite fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Cândido Tavares having to interfere. If Lúcio Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 37 minutes into the game, SC Molares's Adolfo Moniz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vítor Alves made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Adolfo Moniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Vítor Alves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Molares. The SC Molares supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SC Molares would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
