A collision led to Monfanim getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. In the 9th minute of the match, Paulo Coelho got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rafael Bessa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Manuel Gomes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Amadeu Melo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hélder Branco charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hélder Branco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Regueira's Hélder Branco got a free kick in the 21st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cândido Pires in the 26th minute of play forced Monfanim's goalkeeper Rafael Bessa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Viana's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Amadeu Melo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Gomes couldn't finish the play. Amadeu Melo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marco Viana's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. Manuel Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amadeu Melo having to interfere. Amadeu Melo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Viana, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. When Paulo Coelho came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Regueira fans jumped to their feet. Despite being the better team, Monfanim failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
