A wasted opportunity for Cercadas FC. 8 minutes into the game, Raul Martins recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jorge Vaz. Raul Martins showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Jorge Vaz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cândido Mota in the 12th minute. A collision led to Gambelas getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Amílcar Leiria hit a great ball. Cercadas FC's Cândido Mota got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 18 minutes into the game, Cercadas FC's Raul Martins nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jorge Vaz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Bento Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Jesus having to interfere. If Mário Amaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 2-1 became the score in the 30th minute when Bento Figueiredo elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Cândido Mota fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Vaz having to interfere. Bento Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Jesus having to interfere. The long shot by Lourenço Ferro in the 43rd minute really tested Jorge Vaz's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Cercadas FC's zone, Mário Amaro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Jesus came out of the goal and Mário Amaro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mário Amaro was the one to do the kick off. Tomás Viana recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Cercadas FC's Pedro Jesus got control of the ball when Bento Figueiredo tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Cândido Mota put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Jorge Vaz. After a defensive mix-up in Gambelas's zone, Cândido Mota stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Vaz came out of the goal and Cândido Mota tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 61st minute Mário Amaro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Jesus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Bento Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gambelas's supporters rose to their feet, but Bento Figueiredo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Jesus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pedro Jesus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mário Amaro in the 67th minute of play. Raul Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Bento Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Jesus having to interfere. Cercadas FC's Pedro Jesus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mário Amaro in the 82nd minute of play. In the 83rd minute, Tomás Viana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 89th minute Cândido Mota shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Vaz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bento Figueiredo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gambelas's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
