Delfim Amaro succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 16th playminute. The crowd rose to their feet as Marco Luz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alfredo Aleixo. That made the score 3-0 in the 23 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Mesquita's zone, Cristiano Martins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cândido Neto came out of the goal and Cristiano Martins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When André Fonseca fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mesquita's protests and gave André Fonseca a yellow card for diving instead. In the 33rd minute, André Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Cristiano Martins managed to get in a good position for a shot.
