The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Eusébio Delgado made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Vasco Barbosa sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Benquerenca's Nuno Delgado got a free kick in the 3rd minute. After 5 minutes, Eduardo Queirós mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Benquerenca and the Palorca players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 6th minute, Eduardo Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Humberto Moniz struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Eusébio Delgado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palorca. After 8 played minutes Benquerenca got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Delgado. 9 minutes into the match, Palorca's Humberto Moniz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eusébio Delgado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rui Pinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cândido Valente having to interfere. Rui Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eusébio Delgado was a little too slow when Humberto Moniz got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 18th minute. The score was now 1-0. If Rui Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Palorca getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Alexandre Magalhães hit a great ball. Rui Pinto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Cândido Valente tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Pereira scored 1-1 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cândido Valente, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vasco Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 46 minutes, Carlos Pereira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Benquerenca and the Palorca players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Benquerenca getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Carlos Pereira hit a great ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Humberto Moniz to make the kick off. Benquerenca's Rui Fontes got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Pereira in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cândido Valente saved Palorca from getting behind. In the 59th minute, Humberto Moniz made a precise shot to the right of Eusébio Delgado. Benquerenca's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Rui Fontes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cândido Valente having to make a save. Alexandre Magalhães hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Cândido Valente made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Pinto in the 74th minute of play. 77 minutes into the match, Palorca's goal looked a bit too open when Rui Pinto came free, but Cândido Valente reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner ended in André Fonseca almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Palorca's Cândido Valente did a great save. In the 81st minute Humberto Moniz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eusébio Delgado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Palorca getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Alexandre Magalhães hit a great ball. If Vasco Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
