Afonso Borba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emílio Monteiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, Emílio Monteiro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Afonso Borba. The goal made the score 2-1. Fernando Leal took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Afonso Borba. Afonso Borba dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
In the 58th minute, Cláudio Ferro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Folgorosa FC's Afonso Borba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Leal in the 65th minute of play. Afonso Borba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emílio Monteiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Fernando Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Emílio Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 80 minutes, Emílio Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montelavar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emílio Monteiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Fernando Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Montelavar's Cláudio Matias proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Montelavar from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Montelavar had won after a very even match.
