After 18 minutes, Emanuel Bessa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Montouto and the Vascoveiro FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 18th match minute, SC Montouto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emanuel Bessa to maneuver through the defense. Joaquim Pinto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Júlio Carneiro made a huge save. Luís Viegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio Amaro in the 25th minute of play. Luís Viegas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from António Andrade in the 28th minute of the match. In the 33rd minute, Júlio Amaro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Vascoveiro FC booed when SC Montouto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Miranda didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 36th minute, Mário Maia sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and SC Montouto's Luís Viegas didn't even have to move. Júlio Carneiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mário Antunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Vascoveiro FC's zone, Mário Antunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Júlio Carneiro came out of the goal and Mário Antunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Mário Antunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mário Antunes was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, SC Montouto's Vítor Gueifão got a free kick in the 53rd minute. António Andrade's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Viegas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. The supporters of SC Montouto booed when Vascoveiro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaspar Pinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luís Viegas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of António Andrade's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. In the 82nd minute, Joaquim Pinto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Montouto fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. If António Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute.
