Álvaro Reis hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. António Maia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Filipe Amorim's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. Manuel Nunes's late challenge caught a SC Nantes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manuel Nunes helped the player get up and apologised. Fernando Martins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Filipe Amorim came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Pagade FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Filipe Amorim couldn't finish the play. If Fernando Martins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Nantes's António Maia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save SC Nantes from getting a goal against them. The supporters of SC Nantes booed when Pagade FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filipe Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rodrigo Gueifão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filipe Amorim in the 25th minute of play forced SC Nantes's goalkeeper António Maia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in SC Nantes's zone, Filipe Amorim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. António Maia came out of the goal and Filipe Amorim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Filipe Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. António Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 31 minutes, Basílio Viana mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pagade FC and the SC Nantes players grew even worse after the yellow card. Basílio Viana kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Henrique Ferreira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. António Rodrigues showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo Gueifão in the 34th minute of the match. Filipe Amorim struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. António Maia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pagade FC. In the 42nd minute, SC Nantes's Albertino Santarém seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Albertino Santarém the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of SC Nantes protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Albertino Santarém had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. One of SC Nantes:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pagade FC:s goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Henrique Ferreira to make the kick off. Cláudio Fonseca charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cláudio Fonseca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 53 played minutes Pagade FC got a freekick which was hit by Cláudio Fonseca. When Américo Freitas came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the SC Nantes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Américo Freitas couldn't finish the play. When Armando Maia fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pagade FC's protests and gave Armando Maia a yellow card for diving instead. Armando Maia hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. António Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Martins in the 69th minute of the match. Henrique Ferreira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but António Rodrigues made a huge save. Henrique Ferreira struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Pagade FC had won after a very even match.
