After a defensive mix-up in Mariquiteira FC's zone, Cristiano Valente stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernando Barbosa came out of the goal and Cristiano Valente tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vicente Santarém hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. After 11 minutes of play, Lombo FC's Cristiano Valente made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fernando Barbosa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vicente Santarém received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Lucas Gaspar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15th minute, Vasco Soares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Augusto Macedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucas Gaspar having to interfere. Lucas Gaspar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armindo Cardoso in the 18th minute of play. Cristiano Valente received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Fernando Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manuel Silva hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Lombo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristiano Valente was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Armindo Cardoso made the kick off in the second half. When Armindo Cardoso came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Mariquiteira FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armindo Cardoso couldn't finish the play. Augusto Macedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 58 minutes into the match, Lombo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Armindo Cardoso came free, but Lucas Gaspar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Lombo FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Lombo FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
