In the 27th minute, Jorge Branco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Jorge Branco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Artur Nogueira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alexandre Martins was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. In the 34th minute, Mariano Abreu had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. When Vasco Neves fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Infantes FC's goalkeeper José Monteiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Infantes FC's José Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Queirós in the 43rd minute of play. Jorge Branco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Alexandre Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorge Branco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexandre Martins having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jorge Branco was the one to do the kick off. After 51 minutes, António Faro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Infantes FC and the Penaventosa FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Joel Araújo, 52 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Francisco Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joel Araújo's late challenge caught a Infantes FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joel Araújo helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Infantes FC booed when Penaventosa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joel Araújo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 62 minutes into the game, Jorge Branco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Alexandre Martins was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. During the 65th minute of the match António Faro completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave António Faro a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 65 played minutes Infantes FC got a freekick which was hit by António Faro. Infantes FC's José Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Queirós in the 71st minute of play. In the 73rdth minute of the game Francisco Queirós who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Infantes FC's José Monteiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. José Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Queirós in the 75th minute of the match. The supporters of Infantes FC booed when Penaventosa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. Francisco Queirós sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 92 minutes into the match, Hélder Lisboa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Monteiro. Infantes FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hélder Lisboa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Infantes FC's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Penaventosa FC had won, even though Infantes FC had held more of the ball.
