After 5 minutes, Joel Araújo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Penaventosa FC and the Vidigal FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Penaventosa FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 4th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Vidigal FC a penalty, 6 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Joel Paiva, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Penaventosa FC's Alexandre Martins. 0-1. 14 minutes into the match, Vidigal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Lisboa came free, but David Cardoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 17 minutes in the game, Hélder Lisboa fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without David Cardoso having to interfere. 0-2 became the score in the 20th minute when Álvaro Cardoso elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. If Francisco Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute Alexandre Branco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexandre Martins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 33 played minutes Hélder Lisboa could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 1-2 into the left cross. Alexandre Martins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Branco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexandre Martins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cláudio Pinheiro in the 46th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

54 minutes into the match, Penaventosa FC's goalkeeper Alexandre Martins had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alexandre Branco. Francisco Queirós might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over David Cardoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Francisco Queirós ran back to his position shaking his head. Alexandre Martins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cláudio Pinheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Alexandre Martins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cláudio Pinheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 77 minutes into the game, Ricardo Luz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Penaventosa FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vidigal FC the free kick. Penaventosa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hélder Lisboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Hélder Lisboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hélder Lisboa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but David Cardoso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play.
