Emílio Tavares's late challenge caught a SC Folgas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emílio Tavares helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Folgas booed when Figueiros FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emílio Tavares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vítor Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Carlos Borba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Tavares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Borba having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Jorge Azevedo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquim Torres was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Joaquim Torres didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lourenço Ribeiro went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Luís Tavares took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlos Borba. Carlos Borba dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vítor Carneiro to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Ricardo Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carlos Borba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Tavares in the 59th minute of play. Lourenço Ribeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Torres having to interfere. If Vítor Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The tension between the Figueiros FC and the SC Folgas players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Figueiros FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
