In the 30th minute of the match Daniel Teixeira sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedro Assunção skillfully saved the ball. When Alexandre Resende came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Crujeira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Resende couldn't finish the play. Pedro Assunção took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gil Setúbal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alexandre Resende was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 54 minutes, Albertino Viegas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caruncho FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albertino Viegas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alexandre Pereira's late challenge caught a Crujeira's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
