After 11 played minutes Tojalinho got a freekick which was hit by André Aleixo. Alexandre Ferro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vasco Queirós having to interfere. The supporters of Abobreira booed when Tojalinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. André Aleixo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 18 minutes, Paulo Jesus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Abobreira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Jesus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Tojalinho's Lúcio Barbosa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Emílio Pereira. That made the score 1-0 after 22 minutes of play. In the 28th minute Alexandre Ferro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vasco Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 31 minutes into the match, Abobreira's goal looked a bit too open when Vasco Miranda came free, but Emílio Pereira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fernando Sá kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. When Abobreira's Paulo Jesus in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tojalinho's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lúcio Barbosa got free with Emílio Pereira in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 41st minute, Alexandre Ferro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vasco Queirós was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After 43 played minutes Abobreira got a freekick which was hit by Mário Gueifão.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vasco Miranda to make the kick off. Alexandre Ferro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vasco Queirós made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Paulo Jesus sent off a good shot on target. In the 62nd minute, Paulo Jesus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 65th minute Alexandre Ferro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vasco Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vasco Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Ferro in the 67th minute of the match. Emílio Pereira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vasco Miranda in the 71st minute of the match. Paulo Jesus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Vasco Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Abobreira's goalkeeper Emílio Pereira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Vasco Queirós was a little too slow when Alexandre Ferro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 87th minute. The score was now 1-2. Tojalinho's Vasco Miranda got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 93rd minute Lúcio Barbosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emílio Pereira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Abobreira supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Abobreira would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
