Gil Araújo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Palhagueira's Gil Araújo in the 4th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Alfredo Machado was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Cavadoude FC through an amazing save. If João Leiria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Cândido Soares fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palhagueira's protests and gave Cândido Soares a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Cavadoude FC booed when Palhagueira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cândido Soares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Gueifão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Leiria, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Bruno Leiria managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palhagueira's supporters rose to their feet, but Bruno Leiria was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredo Machado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paulo Gueifão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Leiria, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. When João Leiria came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Cavadoude FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Leiria couldn't finish the play. João Leiria's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulo Gueifão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd match minute, Palhagueira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cândido Soares to maneuver through the defense. Nuno Lopes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Paulo Gueifão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Filipe Paredes's late challenge caught a Cavadoude FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Filipe Paredes helped the player get up and apologised. Cavadoude FC's Alfredo Machado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Cavadoude FC from getting a goal against them. In the 45th minute, Nuno Lopes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 47th minute Nuno Lopes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Gueifão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Paulo Gueifão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Leiria in the 51st minute of the match. In the 60th minute, João Leiria reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Paulo Gueifão. The goal made the score 0-1. In the 65th minute, Bruno Leiria left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Palhagueira fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After 77 played minutes Cavadoude FC got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Lopes. Alfredo Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Leiria in the 79th minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Afonso Pedroso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute, Bruno Leiria ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alfredo Machado was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Alfredo Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Leiria in the 93rd minute of the match. Bruno Leiria struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Alfredo Machado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palhagueira. An unexpected shot in the 96th minute by João Leiria got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Cavadoude FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
