In the 47th minute, SC Goaes's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jaime Fernandes fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Delgado stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Rui Borba was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Goaes's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barcel the free kick. In the 87th minute Jaime Fernandes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiago Machado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 88 minutes, Hélder Pinto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Goaes and the Barcel players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 88 played minutes SC Goaes got a freekick which was hit by Hélder Pinto. 89 minutes into the match, Barcel's Paulo Amaral broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Tiago Machado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Fernandes in the 92nd minute of play.
